about

An investigation of traveling, travelers, and symbolism found in both

lyrics

A traveler looks down the road, dust rises to the sky,
But she goes on: light’s almost gone, again to rise and die.

Far away, my eyes will roam
‘Til the day they find my home.
Can the blind ones see what the sighted miss?
Do they know how to ask “Is this
My home?”

And as she lays down to sleep, aches rise to the sky.
Her muscles rest—arms, legs, and chest. Her tears will slowly dry.

Far away, my feet will roam
‘Til the day they take me home.
Can the lame ones gain what the able miss?
Do they know how to ask “Is this
My home?”

When she awakes with the dawn, her hands reach for the sky,
And in that yawn, between her arms, the whole world does lie.

Far away, my arms will roam
‘Til the day they embrace my home.
Can the weak ones hold what the strong ones miss?
Do they know how to ask “Is this
My home?”

And though she walks on alone, her thoughts rise to the sky,
But what they’re on is never gone even when she dies.

Far away, my mind will roam
‘Til the day it knows my home.
Can the heartless love what the joyful miss?
Do they know how to ask “Is this
My home?”

Far away, we all will roam
‘Til the day life brings us home.
Do you see now what the others miss?
Each place in which you find your bliss
Is Home.
